The Spa Space Story
The preeminent day spa on Vancouver Island, Spa Space is owned and managed by Grazyna Sommerfeld, an experienced professional who is well-known to many customers in Victoria. Co-working with Grazyna is Rhonda Diggon - another top professional with vast experience.
During our years of practice, we've heard many people express concern about the average quality of day spa services available. Clients have told us of visits to spas where they were treated without personal attention and real care, of feeling that they were "just a number", and having services performed by under-trained, inexperienced employees; of hearing a lot about "pampering", but not really getting expected results.
We believe that these experiences reflect badly on spas everywhere, and while developing our new Spa Space, we addressed all of these problems, and more.
If we've met before at Le Spa Sereine, you certainly know that both of us - Grazyna and Rhonda - are known for a genuinely caring attitude. We believe in treating you like our best friends, who deserve the best.
For our new Spa Space, we selected state-of-the-art equipment with proven results. And when it comes to experience, Grazyna trains professionals across Western Canada!
Every detail was considered to create a space you will enjoy. We have selected cutting-edge equipment. Interior decoration was created by European designers with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. Spa Space combines the simplicity of modern design, with the breath-taking beauty of hand-made, rare Middle Eastern furniture accents. Tasteful, subtle palette of colours creates a fulfilling experience for your senses.

Our spa is easy to find, just a few minutes drive from downtown, on a quiet street off the Broadmead Village Shopping Centre, and we offer plenty of free parking at the door for a worry-free, unhurried experience.

Spa Etiquette
It's my first time to a spa. What should I know before booking an appointment?
- Your gift certificate or credit card secures your booking. We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellation without penalty. Short-notice cancellations result in a 50% charge; no-shows are charged at full price. Larger groups are requested to give 48 hours’ notice.
- In consideration of other guests, cellular phones and pagers must be turned off in the spa. Children are not allowed in treatment areas of the spa without an appointment.
- Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time to change and complete any necessary forms before your treatment begins. Late arrivals will be accommodated as much as possible, but treatment must end on time to avoid inconveniencing the next guest. Therefore arriving late for your appointment may deprive you of valuable treatment time. Also please leave your valuables at home as we cannot be responsible for their safety.
- Gift certificates are available for any service or dollar denomination (redeemable only for our services).
- Gift certificates are valid for one year from date of purchase, and are fully transferable, but not refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the health benefits to visiting a spa?
A spa visit is a great experience for the mind, body and soul which will leave you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Spa treatments can also address your particular skin and body problems, making you look more vibrant and feeling more confident.
There are so many services, how do I know which one to choose?
It is all about personal preference and need. Some people really enjoy massage, while others would rather have a manicure, a special skin treatment, etc. Our packages give you the opportunity to try several treatments in one visit. Please contact us to discuss your best options. We offer free consultations.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If your services include a pedicure, we suggest you bring open-toed sandals or flip-flops, since your toes will take some time before they're fully dry. Other than that, you don't need to bring anything but yourself- we'll provide you with a robe and slippers, and anything else you might need for your services.
Will I need to undress?
For most services you either remain in your regular clothing or in a wrap or robe. For massage, you can undress to your comfort level, and will be covered with a sheet for your privacy.
How do I purchase a gift certificate?
You can either come into the spa, order a Gift Certificate by phone, or on-line, from the main page of this site. For phone and internet orders you need to provide us with credit card details (we use secure on-line system).
Is parking available?
We have several parking spaces reserved exclusively for use of our customers. One of the reasons for this location is the easy parking. In an unlikely situation that all our dedicated parking spots are occupied, parking is available on the quiet street outside our parking lot. Unlike downtown there are no meters, no time limit, so you can enjoy your services without hurrying or worrying about a parking ticket.
Can I make a group reservation?
Yes, small groups are most welcome. Please contact us for more details.
Should I take any special precautions?
Yes, if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or are taking medication, please let your aesthetician know.
What is the usual etiquette for gratuities?
Gratuities are traditionally offered in recognition of exceptional service, so we would not presume to include them in our prices. Should you wish to tip your treatment staff, you can do so directly or add it to your bill at the end of your spa visit. Gift Certificates do not include gratuities.

COVID-19: What to expect at your next appointment
😊 We are open!
Dear valued clients:
As exciting as it is to reopen, and reconnect, we all need to remember that life is not back to normal yet. So, for the time being we all need to follow the government’s specific advice and make a few adjustments:
- During the time of social distancing, we will make sure that there are no clients waiting in the reception area. We would be very grateful if you would patiently wait in the parking lot. When the treatment room is ready we will come and collect you.
- Drinks or snacks will not be served in the spa, and food or water bottles brought from home are also not permitted. We respectfully ask that you enjoy your drink or a snack in your car before you enter the spa.
- Everyone who comes into the spa will be asked to wash their hands thoroughly, for all treatments.
- If you are experiencing any symptoms of the virus, please call to reschedule your treatment and do not come to the spa.
- We ask that you wear a protective mask while in the spa.
- Makeup testers will not be available for you to try. Please ask for assistance if you would like to try anything.
- The Spa Space team has been trained in sanitation and sterilization. We will be wearing masks during treatments, including a plexiglass shield for facials and manicures. Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the spa.
If we all work together carefully, I am hopeful that we will overcome the COVID-19 challenge and resume our normal lives sooner than later. The news is already looking brighter, as our Vancouver Island communities have been doing a tremendous job with social distancing and fighting the virus.
